Emotional Awareness

Emotions are physiological and mental experiences we have that signal something important to us just happened. Some of us are more aware of our emotions than others. If you only experience good and bad feelings, or only experience emotions as thoughts, or only anxiety or mostly frustration, then developing a more nuances sense of your emotional range could be helpful to you. A lot of our emotions happen below the neck as physiological and energetic phenonmenon. The more you can tune into your body and heart, you can garner the wisdom of your emotional responding. You also can feel more enjoyment in life. And have more emotional intimacy in relationships. The following are tools to help you tune into your feelings more readily.

The insula is one of the main areas of the brain responsible for emotional awareness and you can grow the neural networks in this area. By practicing body awareness during emotional situations and other self-attunement practices listed below, you can become better at detecting your emotions and gleaning their wisdom in real time.
